Default Ghost Recon - Advanced Warfighter (GRAW)

Downloaded them demo yesterday, not tried it yet but it looks really cool.

Set in Mexico city in 2013 you're part of the ultimate elite using the latest military technology to improve your efficiency on the battlefield using continously updated intel and advanced weaponry.

The screenshots look gorgeous and the videos look cool, apparently the system requirements are pretty high though, not looked at them yet.

Anyone tried it? How does it run on your system?

I tried it over the weekend and I'm able to run it at 1680x1050 with everything maxed out without any stutters or frames dropping at all. It's quite good and the demo is decent. Rig in sig.

Bah, it's not that demanding at all, it autodetected all settings max on my system@800x600 resolution. Played through the demo without a hitch (not ONE noticable slowdown), I could probably go up to 1024x768 (which could be useful, visual info over long range is quite important).

This is an interesting quote from Gamespot: "The amount of area you can explore in each mission in this version of the game is noticeably larger than the corresponding mission in the Xbox 360 version--there's also more detail given to each building, leading to more nooks and doorways that you can take cover in."

What? I thought the Xbox360 was supposed to be powerful, but MY humble PC even rivals it!? What's up with that

The game feels quite nice, but it's really important to use a good strategy when advancing (or defending) and to use the intel via the Cross-Com intelligently. Apparently a lot more so then in the Xbox360 version according to Gamespots review. This takes some getting used to (getting used to the interface and such) but during the end of the demo I was starting to get a hang on it.

    Overall definitely worth checking out.

Yeah the AI is kind of strange, they behave pretty well during firefights, but seem a bit shaky at other times.

Outpowers the XBox 360!? That's absolutely absurd... a completely new console should be a proper powerpackage! The old XBox wasn't a slouch when it came out (although reaaaally dated now), custom Nvidia GPU with performance and features better then anything on the market.

My PC is really getting aged now I mean, the only things that are somewhat fresh are my graphics card, my soundcard and my G5 mouse... the rest is over 3 years old and should be ancient in performance terms. Kept floating by overclocking basically.

Oh well, have you tried the game then?

I have the full game. It's so fun. I actually like the Ageia PhysX software...it's not bad. I seriously need a new video card though, my 6800 NU hardly keeps up with firefights and explosions.

The Xbox 360 version probably won't be as good as top-of-the-line GPU's like the 7900's or X1900's, but the graphics are still damn nice. It also has really good framerates, which is a must for consoles because end-users can't tweak the hardware or anything.

I was talking about the original X-Box... it had a GPU that was way ahead of the top-of-the-line PC cards at the time. Of course PC always catches up, but if what you're saying of the 360 is true, it's a piece of shit basically.
